Foxdell Carriages, established in 1964, is a small family run firm of job masters providing horse drawn carriages for all occasions.

The business began when my grandfather, the late John Saunders, was asked by a friend to do his wedding. Despite only having a two-wheeled vehicle and living 20 miles from the wedding venue, he agreed to do it. He started out the day before stopping overnight at his mother's house near to the wedding and continuing his journey the next day. From doing this first wedding he saw a way to make a living and the business progressed from there.

Today we have approximately 40 horse drawn vehicles as well as various handcarts and period props. At present we keep about 10 working horses.

We specialise in weddings and funerals and also have many other vehicles suitable for film work or promotional work. We offer a choice of traditional vehicles for your special day, all drawn by pairs of matched horses and accompanied by a liveried driver and groom. For funerals we have a choice of black or white herses drawn by our proud black Fresians. My grandfather had a fond love of trade vehicles and acquired many of these over the years from a milk float to a brewery dray. These have been used for film work many times and are all available for hire.

All of our turnouts are of the highest standard and are fully insured.
